[First time in about 2 years] SOAK IN WATER Belt Order Event

Are you enjoying the summer?

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding an order event for SOAK IN WATER, a Kobe-based belt manufacturer with which we have had a relationship for over 10 years, for the first time in about two years.

The event will be held for two days only, on August 30th (Sat) and 31st (Sun).

The order event will feature a wide selection of high-quality leather from prestigious European and American tanneries (leather manufacturing factories), including Tempesti of Italy, Baker of the UK, Arnal of France, and Horween of the US . This will be a valuable opportunity to speak directly with designer Kakumoto and have a special pair of leather tailored to each individual customer.

As this will be the first time the event has been held in about two years, we would like to once again introduce the charm of the brand and the warm personality of its designer, Mr. Kakumoto.

What is SOAK IN WATER?

A Kobe-based manufacturer specializing in belts. The origins of their manufacturing lie in their encounter with old British saddlery. Worn leather and brass radiate a unique beauty that cannot be found in new items. They seek the essence of "things that don't just age."

Vegetable-tanned leather and brass are materials that are not suitable for mass production. The rich changes they undergo over time, depending on the user and the environment, are the foundation of our craftsmanship. To maximize the appeal of the materials, we utilize unique manufacturing methods and hand-stitching, sometimes even finishing each thread by hand.

"The more you use it, the more you will grow to love it ." A belt that grows alongside the user's history and develops into a unique and one-of-a-kind item. A product that breathes the warmth and aesthetic sense of handcrafted workmanship that cannot be found in mass-produced products.

Handcrafted workmanship and passion embodied in the belt

1: Commitment to handcrafted work

Almost all processes are done by hand, from cutting a single piece of leather to creating a finished belt, and the designer's passion and aesthetic sense are poured into every detail.

2: A little extra effort makes a difference in the finished product

We achieve a remarkably beautiful finish by taking the time and effort that is not visible to the naked eye, such as chamfering to smooth the corners of the leather and skiving to ensure comfort when wearing the product.

3: Comfortable and durable

The leather that overlaps with the buckle is thinned for comfort, but it's not just about thinning it; we've also pursued an exquisite balance that maintains its strength.

4. Brand symbolism

The stitching is hand-sewn with linen thread, which makes repairs easy. The belt holes are shaped like teardrops, a reference to the brand name, and the story is told in every detail.

5. Enjoy the changes that occur over time

The concept is that "the more you use it, the more you will grow to love it." We aim to create belts that will grow with the wearer over the years and become a unique companion.

Please take a look at the video to see the process of how a single piece of leather is made into a belt.

Aiming to be the best supporting actor

Designer Kakumoto taught himself leatherwork and gained experience at a famous tannery before launching his own brand in 2012. The belief that "items that will be loved for a long time and used for a lifetime" underpins his craftsmanship. Belts that undergo repeated repairs and grow into "tools" that accompany their owners through their lives continue to challenge Kakumoto to explore the true essence of craftsmanship.

What Kakumoto values above all else is the dialogue he has with each and every customer. He wants to directly ask about the customer's lifestyle and style in order to suggest the perfect pair of glasses for each individual. This strong passion is at the heart of his craftsmanship.

Although not the main character, he aims to be "the best supporting actor ." Never forgetting this humility and humor, he injects a casual playfulness into each belt that brings out the individuality of the wearer. "Because it's belts, I want to continue doing this work for a long time," says Kakumoto, whose words speak of his unwavering love for belts and his sincere attitude towards manufacturing.

At this order event, we will be offering not only standard models, but also special leathers and buckles that are not usually found in stores. Please take this opportunity to come and find a one-of-a-kind watch that suits your individual way of life .
